If you’re looking for a soap project that’s both adorable and functional, these Kitchen Soap Grapes are the perfect pick. Designed to hang right from your faucet, these grape-like spheres are made with gentle melt & pour soap and tied together like a real vine. They make handwashing more fun and also double as a sweet-smelling sink-side air freshener. Cute and clever? Yes, please.
This project uses Fizz Fairy’s white melt & pour soap base, a touch of liquid Krazy dye, and your favourite fruity fragrance oil—we used Green Melon Slushie, but Galactic Grape would be a natural next choice. Whether you’re crafting for your own kitchen or looking to wow customers at your next market, these are a guaranteed conversation starter.
Why You’ll Love This Project
- They’re practical and pretty—designed to hang from your kitchen faucet for easy handwashing
- They smell amazing and release fresh scent with every use
- They’re great for gift-giving, market displays, or seasonal home décor
- The realistic grape cluster look makes them an instant showstopper
Ingredients
- 32 oz Fizz Fairy White Melt & Pour Soap Base (*amount may vary depending on the size of your mold)
- 1 tsp Fizz Fairy Apple Green Liquid Krazy Dye
- 1 oz Fizz Fairy Green Melon Slushie Premium Fragrance Oil (or try Galactic Grape for a purple twist!)
Supplies
- Silicone sphere molds (ice cube style)
- Microwave-safe measuring cup
- Microwave
- Digital scale
- Spoon for stirring
- Large knife (for chopping soap)
- Small knife (for cleanup)
- Pre-cut twine strips (one per grape)
- Extra twine (for tying vines together)
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prep Your Twine - Before you start melting anything, cut one strip of twine per grape and set them aside—this will make the assembly smoother and faster later on.
2. Chop & Weigh Your Soap - Chop your 32 oz of melt & pour soap base into cubes for quicker, even melting. Weigh it into a microwave-safe measuring cup.
3. Melt the Soap - Microwave the soap in 30-second bursts, stirring between each one until fully melted.
4. Add Colour & Fragrance - Stir in 1 tsp of Apple Green Liquid Krazy Dye until you reach a bright, juicy green. Add 1 oz (about 3% of your base weight) of Green Melon Slushie fragrance oil. Stir gently but thoroughly to combine.
5. Pour Into Molds - Carefully pour your soap mixture into the sphere molds, filling right to the top—even allowing it to spill slightly through the hole if your mold has one. This helps the soap become as round as possible once set.
6. Insert Twine - While the soap is still warm and liquid, gently insert a strip of twine into the center of each sphere. Try not to push too deep, or the twine may be visible in the finished soap.
7. Let Set Overnight - Let your soap grapes cure undisturbed overnight at room temperature.
8. Unmold & Trim - Carefully unmold your grapes and use a small knife to trim away any overflow or uneven edges.
9. Assemble the Vine - Tie clusters of three soap grapes together, then begin tying the clusters together with extra twine to form a full vine. Tip: Hang a string from a hook or cupboard handle and attach your clusters as you go - this makes it easier to see how the final vine will fall. Use your nicest grapes on the outside and the slightly imperfect ones in the middle of the cluster. Be mindful of how the grapes hang and overlap to get a full, balanced look.
Final Tips
- These are so fun to customize—try different colours and fragrances to make grapevine soaps for different seasons or rooms.
- If the twine ever slips during setting, try chilling the mold for a few minutes before inserting, or support the twine upright using a toothpick balanced across the mold.
- Customers love these as hostess gifts or quirky housewarming favours—wrap in clear cello with a kraft tag and twine bow for a market-ready look!
Final Thoughts
These Kitchen Soap Grapes are the perfect way to bring a bit of whimsy to your everyday routine. Whether you’re gifting, selling, or just treating yourself, they’re sure to bring a smile with every handwash. Plus, they’re a great way to showcase Fizz Fairy colourants, fragrances, and soap bases in a fun and creative way!
